Our GOals
Build Capacity
Our goal is to build both human and structural capacity. We want to enhance the quality and quantity of human capital through education, and strengthen existing programs in public health, medicine or development.
Pursue Sustainability
Our goal is to pursue sustainability. We want each activity or program to be self-sustaining and appropriate for the area’s resources and culture.
Work in Partnership
Our goal is to work in partnership with local leaders, health care professionals, the government, communities, and other organizations.
Our Approach
Each location in which IPSAHD works will pose a unique situation and different challenges, but here are a few ways sustainable improvements in health can be pursued:
Public Health
Teach health professionals, students of all levels, and community members.
Provide consultative and supportive services, while building capacity through hands-on collaboration on Public Health programs and projects.
Encourage, promote, and facilitate studies to first identify issues and then to develop, implement, and evaluate the benefit of interventions with the goal of finding the most cost-effective solution.
Encourage and promote collaboration between programs and services to provide the best possible health for the whole person and community.
Medical Education
Build capacity in the health care system by promoting the advancement of medical training, with an emphasis on mid-level providers to improve quality and access to health care services.
Strengthen health care services by promoting CME (continuing medical education)
Healthcare
Provide direct health care services on a part-time/limited basis to understand the health care system and the local issues, needs and challenges.
Encourage and facilitate studies and interventions to improve the quality, efficiency, and cost-effective utilization of limited health care resources.
Development & Complementary Areas
Provide technical support for initiatives to solve issues in health and development by encouraging programs in economic development, agriculture and horticulture, education, and green/sustainable technologies.
